EXPO ferroviaria 2016 review

The total number of exhibitors at the show, which took place at the Lingotto Fiere Exhibition Centre in Turin from 5 to 7 April, was 270 exhibitors from 22 countries. Of these, 66 were taking part in EXPO Ferroviaria for the first time. Among visiting international rail operators were ONCF and Casa Tram from Morocco, West Japan Railway Company and Central Japan Railway Company, and SRT State Railway of Thailand. European visitors included Deutsche Bahn AG, French operators SNCF, SNCF Réseau and RATP, Switzerland’s SBB and Britain’s Network Rail.

The event was also attended by Italy’s major network players: Gruppo Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, with its main group companies, the private high-speed operator NTV, and representatives of regional and local transport operators such as Trenord, Ferrovie Nord, ATM Milano and GTT Gruppo Torinese Trasporti.

Visitors on the lookout for new products and partnerships greatly appreciated the opportunities provided to establish contacts with the sector’s manufacturing and industry players.

Exhibitors included the United States’ Wabtec Corporation, JR East-East Japan Railway Company, PESA, Matisa SpA, Plasser & Theurer, Vossloh AG and Italy’s ECM, Poli Costruzione Materiali Trazione, Vapor Europe and Hitachi Rail Italy.

High–level figures from Italy’s transport industry and its political establishment took part in the formal opening of the EXPO Ferroviaria 2017. Among additional highlights of the event was a two days conference organised by the Italian College of Railway Engineers (CIFI) in collaboration with ANIAF, ASSTRA, ANIE-ASSIFER and Federmobilità.
