TECHNICAL VISIT TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITES OF THE NEW MILAN METRO LINE M4
The M4 or Blue Line is a lightweight, automated and driver-less, a technology that allows intelligent traffic control, ensuring the highest safety standards and increasing line elasticity. The estimated annual passenger is 86 million. The M4 tunnels are excavated underground with a TBM ("Tunnel Boring Machine"), while the excavations of the stations and artifacts are made to "open sky". The Blue line will connect the historical city centre with the east (Forlanini and Linate Airport) and the west (Lorenteggio and San Cristoforo station), reducing the car traffic with benefits for the environment and for those who live and work in Milan. MM takes care of the M4 project of the Directorate of Work, Coordination of Security and Communication in the territory.
